A Spooky Downtown Tale – Park Town Hotel

The Park Town Hotel was opened in 1958 by two brothers, August and Peter Verbeke. Over the following years, as the hotel thrived, the brothers began to buy up surrounding lots to expand the hotel’s size. The last resident’s lot to sell to the hotel only agreed if the purchase would include the ability to move into one of the hotel’s rooms. Since then it has long been rumoured that the Downtown hotel has a few unregistered guests roaming the hallways and rooms. Some say the residents from those sold lots never left, with a total of 9 known playful ghosts dwelling within the hotel’s property. Two of the ghosts people claim to have seen are a little girl in a red dress within and around the cedar room who often plays the piano and an old man who roams the pool area.

Some believe home is where the heart is, and if your heart never truly leaves that physical home, is that how these guests still make their rounds? Or perhaps it’s all just the whisperings from silent and efficient room service gone almost unknown.
