Hi, my name is Maxwell, I’m a local Saskatoon musician/producer and I’ve currently been the Store Manager of Tweed 2nd Ave here in downtown YXE coming up to three years. It sure has been an exciting and wild time navigating a retail store throughout the pandemic but consider myself incredibly lucky to have had great support from my amazing team, colleagues, and community.

I’ve been downtown for almost 15 years, mainly working as a bartender/server in the food industry. I’ve always been passionate about customer service, product knowledge, and making people happy in general, so I guess that’s why the transition into the cannabis industry was pretty easy. I found it to be a new and exciting opportunity to take my skills to such a fresh industry, destigmatize the idea of cannabis consumers, and explore the vast amount of different cannabis formats such as beverages, topicals, and much more!

I find downtown special because there’s always something going on, there’s never a dull moment, and the people are great! When I’m not working, I’m usually digging in the crates at Vinyl Exchange or visiting our great restaurants and music venues downtown with friends.

In the future, I hope to see myself grow into a higher position within the Canopy Growth Corporation as their company vision and goals align with my personal beliefs, professional career, and approach to all-things cannabis related. I would love to see our Downtown develop a legal and safe consumption site for cannabis consumers alike. Currently, there is nowhere for consumers to use cannabis unless it’s on private property. A café would be a great option.

Saskatoon is special to me because of its people and community. It is simply fantastic. There are so many great artists with a vast range of talent! We also have over 100 restaurants and lounges Downtown, so my munchies are always curbed. And finally, I think it’s just geographically beautiful and designed very well, what more could you ask for?
