Mini Fridge Theatre

Hello, my name is Michael Neuert and I’m a founding member and business partner of Mini Fridge Theatre Company. We are launching our seventh season of dinner theatre comedies for Saskatoon and area audiences.

I was born and raised in Saskatoon and, with the exception of a couple of years, I’ve lived here all my life. I’ve been involved in all areas of theatre in the city for 40+ years and have worked with some of the finest talents, both on stage and behind the scenes. I’ve been involved with Gateway Players, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Stage One Theatre Company, Nightcap Productions, and was a co-founder of Saskatoon’s Off Broadway Dinner Theatre. I’ve also done a fair amount of film and video work including a recent music video we shot in the spring for the band Halocene.

It was a unanimous decision when my business partners and I chose to set up our new venue at St. John’s Anglican Hall on Spadina Crescent. It was a wonderful choice as it’s in the centre of the city and provides easy access for our patrons. Some of us had worked inside the hall several years prior with other theatre productions and knew that the location would be an excellent fit—not only because of the hall’s beautiful stage but also because of the proximity to the Meewasin Valley and the central location.
I see Mini Fridge Theatre Company as we had originally envisioned the theatre—as an alternative to what is available in Saskatoon that also provides amazing food and laughs. We’ve always wanted to find a way to foster local talent while bringing light and fun atmosphere back to the Saskatoon theatre scene. We employ and showcase local actors, directors, stage managers, and producers and aim to help them branch out into other mediums such as film, video, and other professional work. My personal hope is to see ourselves as a stepping stone for local actors to learn more of the craft from the ample professional talent we have in our group. We always say that my partners and I brought over a century of combined theatre experience to the table when we formed Mini Fridge Theatre Company and we’re here to share that experience with upcoming local artists. It’s just another way for us and our audiences to “support local!”
