Paired with Aroma’s Chef Austen, Sarah Marchildon of DTNYXE asked a few questions in anticipation of a belly full of warm, delicious soup!
DTNYXE – Have you competed in this Cook-Off before?
CHEF – I’m no stranger to competitions – I quite enjoy them! I’ve participated as assistant to Chefs in this Soup Cook-Off many times, and I’m excited to compete solo this year. The golden ladle has hung many times in Aroma’s kitchen, thanks to Chefs Scott + Darren – I look forward to having my name on the next one!
DTNYXE – What does it mean to be part of the local Professional Chefs’ Association?
CHEF – Member chefs are those wanting to contribute to the community – from education within our indsutry to tasty events for the public, like this one.
DTNYXE –Â So, what will our taste buds be enjoying on Wednesday evening!?
CHEF – My Roasted Celeriac + Parsnip soup is sure to surprise! It’s common to not really like white root vegetables, but this creamy + delicious soup will change your mind. I just like to cook from the heart, and make good food.
DTNYXE – As they taste + rate your soup, what would you like to say to the judges, your competitors, and the public?
CHEF – To the judges, thank you for your time! To my competitors, to the best of your success! And to the public, don’t be afraid to try something new – it just might be delicious!
DTNYXE – What’s the most important part of a chef’s day at Aroma?
CHEF – We really enjoy our Staff Meals! We each have the opportunity to cook for our colleagues, often trying out new dishes + techniques. Chef critiques us, and we learn + improve from there. This creates an authentic sense of commitment + team!
