Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan
July 23 - August 22
Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan presented by Nutrien
Macbeth | July 23 – August 22, 2021
Now in their 36th season, the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival continues to provide exciting contemporary versions of the plays by William Shakespeare! Each summer, two full-length plays are performed in repertory by professional artists, in a large tent on the banks of the beautiful South Saskatchewan River in the heart of downtown Saskatoon. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday from the first week in July until mid-August with 1:00 p.m. matinees on Sundays – see our show schedule for detailed information. Our site also features Sir Toby’s Tavern with Riverside Deck and Boryski’s BBQ food open at 5 p.m. daily – the only outdoor riverside tavern in Saskatoon!
Macbeth- Ambition and blood – so much blood. Macbeth’s wants and desires for power are fueled by the deadly determination of Lady Macbeth and the prophesies of three strange women. Dark, stylized and with blinding intensity, come experience the “Scottish Play” as you never have before – a magical, highly theatrical performance with five of Saskatchewan’s finest actors. This will be a memorable return to the stage for Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan – a return to live performance that takes the Bard’s deadliest tragedy to a wholly unexpected level. Featuring Joshua Beaudry and Kristi Friday in the lead roles.
Run time is approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
