The Atlantic Jazz Collective’s mission is to develop and promote jazz in Atlantic Canada and beyond through international collaboration. Founded by JUNO Award winners Mike Murley (sax), Florian Hoefner (piano), and Jim Vivian (bass), the Collective’s first project was to invite revered UK-based vocalist and lyricist Norma Winstone and legendary drummer Joe LaBarbera to join them. The quintet recorded its inaugural 2023 performance in St. John’s. The repertoire included reimagined versions of compositions by Maria Schneider, Ralph Towner, and Steve Swallow with Winstone composing lyrics for these instrumentals. To celebrate the release of Seascape, the quintet is touring across Canada in spring 2025.
