EAT DTNYXE

DTNYXE is home to my most beloved locally owned restaurants and shops. From laid back brunches to dinner dates with friends, I have a list of favourite go-to’s that I love so much.  Today, I’ve put together a list of my most cherished spots to grab take away from, dine in or bask in the sunshine on their patios.

Located on the coveted River Landing, OEB is just steps from neighbouring Remai Modern and Alt Hotel. It might just be the prettiest stroll to and from when arriving via the Meewasin path or our city’s charming traffic bridge too. This sun filled space boasts unparalleled river views along with some of the best brunch options. Their extensive menu offers something for everyone from farm fresh classics to blue plate specials and everything in between. My personal choice is the popular Florentine eggs benny and hot cup of coffee. This vegetarian option is nothing short of amazing.  Their breakfast poutines are a crowd favourite too. Bright, beautiful and vibrant, OEB makes the perfect meeting spot for business, a date or catching up with friends. With warm temps approaching, I suggest making time for a river walk or gallery stroll after you visit.

Three Treasures Tonics is my choice for nourishment on the go. This calm and serene shop is one of my favourites in Saskatoon. This custom elixir bar offers tonic herbs, superfoods and delicious natural treats. Plus, this sun-soaked space retails a variety of rare and incredible superfoods and elixirs to utilize at home.  New to the world of elixirs and superfoods?  Don’t worry, an educated staff member will assist you in ensuring that you get exactly what you need. When visiting, my drink of choice is Hello Gorgeous.  This next level elixir is a supreme beauty tonic filled with all good things like reishi tea, pearl powder, rose water and petals.  It’s as delicious as it is beautiful. I like to park further down 2nd Avenue and shop my favourite local spots (hello Swank Shoe Lounge Joyne!) on my way to and from Three Treasures Tonics.

Tacos and beer are a match made in heaven and so is Shelter Brewing & Dylan and Cam’s lovely union. Dylan and Cam’s Tacos has been a favourite of mine since they started serving up the VERY best tacos in their food truck a few years back. Since settling into Shelter Brewing, we’ve been able to enjoy them year-round. Their menu offers drool worthy vegan and gluten friendly items too.  Shelter Brewing is a nano brewery that focuses on creating high quality, small batch brews.  Their tap list includes a core line up of beers and three rotating taps. Enjoy your favs, sample flights, or simply Grab and Go. The aesthetic of the room is clean, warm and welcoming … even better, the patio in front! With summer fast approaching, the patio boasts the best seats on 2nd Ave. Hands down my favourite day date in the city and equally incredible for meeting up with friends anytime day or night. What to order? Everything!  For me its vegan Papas tacos stuffed with potato and savory soy chorizo, tangy Kale Ensalada with avocado and cilantro lime, along with a tart and refreshing Spot On cherry cider. There’s a take away menu for staying in and still enjoying. Plus, beer delivery every Friday. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Across from Shelter is the most incredible hidden gem of downtown Saskatoon. Atop St. Tropez Bistro sits Parlor, a charming and beautiful speakeasy. Spot the blue cat in the window and follow the staircase up to discover this lovely space featuring a curated list of tasty libations and heavenly tapas. I favor Pillow Talk, a classic cocktail made with Lucky Bastard Vodka, Camomile, Cranberry and Lime and will never pass up their warm pretzel bites and vegetarian spinach balls.  If you haven’t tried them, you must.  I crave them all the time. Dine downstairs then pop up for a nightcap to end your night, meet with friends or enjoy a quiet date. Plus, Parlor has a patio! It’s amazing and offers an open-air option.
