Happy birthday to us – we’re 34 today and want to celebrate by having a special edition birthday cocktail (or mocktail) with you and our friends at Parlor! Through ebbs and flows and global pandemics, we think we’ve gotten better with age (that reminds us – have you seen our fresh, new skyline artwork around the district?)!

Established as a Business Improvement District on June 2nd, 1986, Downtown Saskatoon is open and inviting, offering an upscale urban experience in the heart of Saskatchewan (hence the heart in our original logo when we were called ‘The Partnership’!) Our 2016 rebrand changed our name to ‘Downtown Saskatoon’–or ‘DTNYXE’ for short–and successfully captures the vibrant, colourful and evolving nature of our community.

By the dated signature on our City of Saskatoon bylaw that allows us to exist, today we celebrate 34 years of service to our community – one of an eclectic mix of fashion retailers, local restaurants and significant cultural and natural amenities.

Cheers to that – let’s get to the cocktail!  From the staff and Board of Directors of Downtown Saskatoon, we send you a celebratory, virtual cheers on our birthday:

STEPPING INTO SPRING

• 1.5 oz Roku Gin
• 0.75 oz Lemon Juice
• 0.75 oz Lilac & Butterfly Pea Flower Simple Syrup
• Whole Egg White

To make it a mocktail, simply leave out the gin and the egg whites!

SIMPLE SYRUP
• 2 cups water
• 2 cups sugar
Put on medium heat to dissolve
• 2 cups packed lilac flowers
Add flowers and simmer for an hour

1. Combine all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and dry shake (dry shake = no ice!) for 35-40 seconds until the drink is frothy

2. Add ice to the shaker and shake until you hear the ice break up!

3. Pour into a Coupe & garnish with Lilac Flowers (or any edible flower)
