Downtown Saskatoon BID selects Prominent Business Leader, Shawna Nelson as Executive Director

The board of directors of the Downtown Saskatoon Business Improvement District, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Shawna Nelson, as our new Executive Director, effective November 4, 2024. Shawna brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to be the voice and advocate for the Downtown Saskatoon business community.

A seasoned leader with over 23 years of executive-level experience in Hospitality, Hotel, Tourism, and Business sectors, she is no stranger to the Downtown Saskatoon business community. With a proven record as Director of Sales and Marketing for three downtown hotels and a robust background in business development, sales, marketing, customer experience strategy and event management she is poised to make significant contributions to Downtown Saskatoon.

“We are in a critical moment entering a new chapter and we are confident that with her keen business acumen, leadership abilities, and dedication to building a thriving business community will drive Downtown Saskatoon to new heights”, says Sara Wheelwright, Chair of the Downtown Saskatoon BID.

Shawna is deeply committed to community service, having served on numerous boards, including the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Canadian Chambers of Commerce, Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and the Saskatoon Destination Marketing Hotels Inc.

Currently she serves on the Tourism Saskatchewan board, and the Saskatoon Downtown Event and Entertainment District Advisory Committee, where she will continue to contribute to the development plan of our Downtown Saskatoon District.
