Butler Byers Insurance

Downtown Saskatoon, Oct. 10, 2024 –For over a century, Butler Byers Insurance has brought people from across Canada to the vibrant, inviting district of Downtown Saskatoon. They are a historical member of the district, opening in 1907 and moving into their current iconic building on the corner of 24th St E and 4th Ave N in 1978. The business has been passed down through four generations, beginning with founders Jim Butler and brothers Newt + Ivan Byers in 1907. The business was then passed down to Ivan’s son Jack in 1952, who passed leadership on to his son Drew in 1977. Since 2022, Butler Byers is being led by Scott Byers and Colin Rooke.

Butler Byers has been able to thrive for over 100 years and four generations by focusing on integrity, honesty, and legendary customer service. They take great pride in their highly trained and reputable staff who deliver award-winning service to both businesses and individuals. Awards they have recently received include the SABEX Family Business of the Year in 2023, and the Planet S Best of Saskatoon for Best Insurance Agency and Best Insurance Agent (awarded to Nicole Biehn) also in 2023.

Butler Byers was one of the first insurance agencies to offer hail insurance, showcasing their innovation and contribution to Saskatchewan’s economy. Since then, they have expanded their organization to fit broader needs, from coverage for conventional businesses to worldwide risk management, as well as claims service and employee group benefits. Butler Byers does the work to make insurance easy.

Butler Byers is committed to supporting local businesses and organizing charitable projects to benefit the community. This includes sponsoring Downtown non-profit organizations and events like the Children’s Festival, Colliers Cup, the Prairie Lily, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saskatoon, and the Meewasin Trails. Their generous contributions ensure continued support for vital programs and services within our community.

But the organization’s contributions do not end there. In fact, original partners, Newt + Ivan Byers, were two of the founders of the Saskatoon Rotary Club in 1917, which now hosts weekly meetings at the Saskatoon Club and is focused on giving back to the community. Similar to the Butler Byers organization, each generation of Byers has joined and actively participated in the Rotary Club since its inception.

We thank + celebrate Butler Byers Insurance and its staff for all they have contributed to the vibrancy of Downtown Saskatoon.
